Create a resume online for free (PDF)
A well-structured resume isn't just about a tidy layout: it also needs to be readable by humans AND, increasingly, by the software that screens applications before a recruiter ever opens them. This generator produces a resume as a PDF with four templates to choose from, automatic layout calculation, and free downloading with no signup or watermark.
What a recruiter actually looks at
Most studies on the subject agree: a recruiter spends very little time on a first pass over a resume, often under a minute, sometimes just a few seconds. They're looking first for quick landmarks — current role, length of experience, education, industry keywords — before reading shortlisted applications in detail. A clear resume, with a sharp visual hierarchy (visible section headings, aligned dates, achievements rather than vague lists of duties), makes that first pass easier, whatever template you choose.
Four templates, one shared content
The four templates — ATS, Classic, Modern (two columns), and Compact — share exactly the same data: switching templates never loses a single piece of entered information, only the presentation changes. The ATS template remains the safest default: no icons, no layout tables, text that reads in the right order once extracted by software. The Modern template, with two columns, suits an application where visual appearance matters more (creative industries, design-oriented roles) — but automated screening sometimes reads its content less reliably.
Achievements, not responsibilities
The difference between a resume that holds attention and one that gets lost in the pile often comes down to one simple thing: describing what you accomplished rather than what you were responsible for. "Responsible for customer support" says far less than "Cut average response time by 40% by reorganizing the support team". The tool shows suggestions like this right next to the experience fields, with a character counter to keep each description concise.
Several versions, entered once
Tailoring your resume to each application remains an effective habit, but a tedious one if everything has to be retyped. This tool lets you save several named drafts in your browser, and export each one as JSON Resume, an open format readable by other compatible tools — handy for keeping a reference version outside the browser, or picking it up on another device without retyping everything.
